Week Seven

This week we continue our legal studies with Deuteronomy.  There are some cool battle stories mixed in with the legal stuff, so there's that.

As always with legal sections, one way to spice up the reading is to look for parallels between the law and Jesus. There are a lot of them. What parallels can you see? And always, feel free to post your questions and other observations.

Deut 14:26 seems to indicate that alcohol was a very acceptable part of worship - looks like our connection group is on to something!

Exodus 5:11 "You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name."
We tell our girls not to say "Oh My God," or any form thereof unless we are praying to or praising him because God deserves our honor and respect. It's definiely hard in today's society where OMG is so acceptable, I try to give them acceptable substitutes like Gadzooks or Holy Mackerel, ha ha, but I was wondering if y'all have any good way of explaining this to your kids. I tend to be very black and white on this stuff and, well, that's just not fun to youngens sometimes.

Not my specialty area, but you could try misusing their names to see how they like it, then explain the connection.
